Gallery exhibition celebrates youth artwork

Young People’s Artwork on Display

Artwork created by young people is now featured in a professional gallery. This follows workshops organized by the Level Two youth project in Felixstowe. The exhibition includes sculptures, paintings, and photography, all installed at the renowned 142 Art Gallery in Suffolk.

Inspiration and Creativity

Among the standout pieces is a table and chopping boards crafted by 10-year-old Oscar, featuring a stunning blue resin river effect. Explaining his process, Oscar said, “I sanded it down, put a router through to make the shape, and then put resin in it.” He added that he was thrilled to see his work displayed in the gallery.

The exhibition, titled Identity, welcomes submissions from young artists and aims to showcase their creativity while fostering community engagement.

Supporting Young Talent

Project lead and Level Two youth worker Megan Pilcher shared her enthusiasm for the initiative:

“We wanted to create a project that showcases the creativity and talent of young people in Felixstowe. The idea of removing luck from opportunities is a big ethos behind this – anyone can participate. We are so excited to host the gallery and welcome the community to see their amazing pieces.”

All proceeds from the exhibition will go directly to supporting Level Two’s young people and their families, reinforcing the project’s commitment to empowering youth and fostering creativity within the community.
